In Persepolis Marjane started wearing a veil in school after the Islamic Revolution. Ever since the children had been informed to wear in the veil in school. They really didn't wear it they just took it off like it was nothing."We didn't really like to wear the veil, especially since we didn't understand why we had to." Also Marjane as a little girl wanted to become a prophet. I found that foolish for a little child to decided that decision. Honestly it was interesting for a 10 year old Iran girl to think that way. She wanted to become a prophet because she said that she was born with religion. She thought that she was the last prophet. "I wanted to become a prophet because our maid didn't eat with us, because my father had a Cadillac, and above all because my grandmother's knees always ached." Later on Marjane learns that her grandfather was a prince. She was surprised when her father told her. Then she started to know more about her grandfather. Her grandfather was a prince but the King took everything he owned. Leaving the grandfather in poverty. He then started demonstrating and got sent to jail often. Marjane's mother would always be scared when she heard a knock on the door. She thought that the police were there to take her father away. Sometimes they were the police men. "I remember when I was a small girl everytime there was knock on the door. I thought they were coming to take my father to prison. One time out of two it was really true."
